Babysitting

Hey everyone! I just found out that family I have been nannying for for about 2 years now will be moving to Arizona soon. Although I have been asked to go along, I just cannot leave my life here. This leaves me looking for a new job! I have a profile on Care.com just search Halie Gettys! Thanks a bunch and please contact me if you or anyone you know needs a nanny! I have awesome references and a full resume!

pining over pinning.

Late to the party I know, but I am loving pinterest. It's like every craft I ever wanted to do is right there with instructions and a guide. The only problem now is how do you find the time to do them all...and a place to put them?! I already have an almost full storage unit full of thrift store pickups who need a more than a little help. I'll start on them a little bit at a time and try not to adopt anymore stray love seats in the meantime. Here a few pictures of some of my favorite room designs as of late.
I love the sweetness of this little room. The pictures are so eclectic and fun.
I am so in love with this room. Clearly there is a lot going on but with the other walls being solid and this pattern or a chevron as  an accent wall is to die for.

This is a little peak of my own touches to my room lately and I also wanted to feature this painting a friend of mine did for me of sweet baby, Luna. Thanks Hailey!

Happy Pinning!

These are a few of my new favorite things...

As the new year begins I have a few new favorite things. I have not always been a huge fan of baths (I have to shower after anyway so I really feel clean). However, when I do take a bath I want to enjoy it. That being said, one of my new favorite things are ME! brand bath bombs and bath products. I especially love the bath bombs shaped like ice cream scoops. They are so cute and the scents are really fun. I found that in order to make them last longer, you shouldn't let them dissolve fully with one bath but let them fizzle a little and then remove it and save some for another day! I am displaying mine with all their fun colors in a glass vase in my bathroom so they double as decoration.
This is chocolate covered strawberry flavor yum! You can get these guys at http://www.mebath.com

My next favorite thing is a little unusual for me. Although I am usually a loyal customer of Victoria's Secret and haven't been to American Eagle since middle school, my new favorite panties come for Aerie. They are the "vintage lace tanga" panty and they are awesome. They come in so many colors and are part of their 5 for $25 deal. Sometimes they are 7 for $25 just like VS. They're super comfortable and look fancy without being too much. Get some at www.aerie.com

My next and maybe most favorite thing ever is this spinning makeup organizer by Lori Greiner. You can fit all your products in it and if you're anything like me you'll love the organization it provides. It's only $27.50 and is worth every penny to me. You can get it on www.qvc.com and you will love it!

I hope you enjoyed these favorite things of mine and find some of your own this year! Now I am going to be singing this all day, "Rain drops on roses and whiskers on kittens..."

Back to school.

Today was a back to school day for everyone...including me. After nearly a year of being on a "break" I registered for a few classes today to take during the week while kiddies are at school. This is exciting and scary at the same time. You would think after going to school for a million years 9 months off wouldn't make you forget but I feel I have been out of the swing of things for forever! I have gotten so comfortable in this real world mindset and now I am going to be a student again. Since I have been out of school I have mastered the task of getting things done with a baby by your side ( I have one sleeping on my lap as I type). This will hopefully make it easy to complete homework with children by my side as well.

As far as new years resolutions go I am not taking them too seriously. I'm hoping that if I don't push them I can enjoy them more. Here they are:

- Have more patience for the things that don't really matter. Messes will be there tomorrow and today has enough worry of it's own.
- Keeping notes in a jar of the good the bad and the ugly days and look back on them in the coming months. This is a reminder that no matter how ugly things may be it will all be okay.
- spend more time walking Luna. That poor chunk needs to lose a pound. Vets orders.
-Be more crafty and make more things beautiful.
- Take more pictures of everything!

fa la la la la

The last couple of weeks have been full of learning and fun and activities. The kids and I have been especially crafty. This week alone we made christmas cupcakes, gingerbread men and wrote letters to Santa. We are getting into Christmas mode completely and having so much fun. I fall a little more in love with these sweet babies all the time. For example, (as if i haven't seen them almost every day for 2 years), Leila asked me as I was leaving last night, "Miss Halie, will you come back to our house tomorrow?" I love those precious moments. It makes all the spilled drinks and less than glamorous days so worth it. These are some pictures of our fun this week:

Yellow cupcakes with cream cheese icing.

Dora as a gingerbread girl.

Wouldn't be Grayson's gingerbread man if it wasn't Yoda.

I'll leave you with this cutie. Watch it 1 time or 100!

Whirlwind of a life.

My life lately has definitely been nothing short of a whirlwind. I have been constantly nannying 12 hours a day, 5 days a week for the 4 months. I definitely have learned a lot about myself and the american mother during this. I truly feel like I should be going to some kind of mothers morning out Bible study or at least be about 30 years old.

My day consists of:
6:50 a.m.-Leave my house and head toward Huntersville.
7:30 a.m. (Praying for no traffic)-Grab a serious coffee.
7:50 a.m.-Arrive at Kids house.
8:00 a.m.- Send 7 year old, Alana off to second grade (She walks right down the street to her school).
Then I make breakfast, sometimes pack lunches and gather backpacks for Grayson (4) and Leila (2.5)
9:00 a.m.- Grayson and Leila go to pre-school.
I come home and get as much laundry, dishes and basic cleaning done as possible before "The View" at 11:00 a.m.
I pick babies up and 1:00 and Alana comes home shortly after at 3:00 p.m.
I usually stay until about 6:00 p.m.

That is just a little glimpse into life as I know it for right now. As you can imagine this blog will pretty much be about my adventures as a nanny for a little while. I love it a lot and feel like I am getting some great life skills at this job. However, as much as I adore this sweet fam I am ready to go back to school and turn in my key to the real world! Stay tuned for more updates on scraped knees, first soccer games and oatmeal in my hair!

I'll leave you with this photo of Leila and I...Off to the car pool line I go!

Happy New Year!

Okay so obviously it is already 13 days into the new year and I am just now blogging. I have not been doing so great at blogging everyday because I don't really ever think anything I do is blog worthy. However, one of my new years resolutions was to journal and I think this sorta counts as that right? So far I have been successful with my other resolutions. 2 of which are read more and go to the gym at least 3 times a week. I have missed one day out of 13 so far. I also became an upstanding member of society today when at the age of 19, I got a library card. I was so excited to check out Kardashian Konfidential and Sarah Palin: America by heart. I am also re-reading the 4th Twilight book. We'll see how long this leisurely reading lasts when I get really deep into school work again. Anyways...since I have been gone so long I have compiled a list of 30 things about me....here it goes...

1. I ALWAYS get nervous right before I leave a voicemail.
2. My number 1 pet peeve is when I get a missed call and return it seconds later with no answer.
3. I LOVE animals and often feel worse for them than most people.
4. I love the way mountains look all black against an almost dark sky.
5. I might be a music guru sometimes, but I REALLY love the same songs everyone else likes and the ones that are popular at the time.
6. I kiss my hand and put it on the ceiling of the car when I run a yellow light.
7. I was a Younglife leader.
8. I am obsessed with my dogs.
9. I have a blog, facebook, twitter and foursquare.
10. I love Jesus.
11. I am in fashion school.
12. I am a nanny for the 3 cutest kids ever!
13. I think my brothers are hilarious but don't tell them.
14. I hate anything orange flavored but love orange juice with lots of pulp.
15. I listen to my music way too loud.
16. I love clothes.-Wearing them, looking at them, talking about them...
17. I hated high school while I was there but wish I could go back all the time.
18. I've been in way too many car accidents for my liking.
19. I have awesome friends!
20. I usually eat the same thing at Panera Bread 3 times a week.
21. This is SO weird but I have always wondered what it would feel like to bite a beavers tail..the texture looks so weird to me!
22. I HATE the snow but I love winter clothes.
23. I think people should ALWAYS have a real christmas tree...still bitter about this at my house!
24. I get severely OCD and have to organize my stuff all the time. I am never without my planner.
